Commanding the Room

  • This innovative one-day programme is led by specialist communication coach Ailsa Gudgeon and senior executive coach Rachel Goodwin.
  • Launched in 2011, Commanding the Room is provided on an in-house basis for groups of 6 – 8 individuals within the same organisation.
  • The programme trains participants to prepare content strategically and to deliver impactfully, with clarity and conviction, winning the hearts and minds of their audiences in a wide range of settings. It has consistently been reported as having a transformative effect on their skills and impact.
  • By keeping the group small, Ailsa and Rachel help each participant to identify specific development areas, overcome obstacles and learn to communicate in a consistently confident and compelling way.
  • Some of our clients have put over two hundred and fifty managers through the programme in order to elevate the quality of communication throughout their business.
  • The programme is particularly suitable for groups of key influencers or leaders of the future.
  • Commanding the Room offers a powerful combination of tailored pre-work, an intensive one-day workshop and follow-up video and reading material.
  • Participants then receive a one-to-one coaching session to embed the learning and provide bespoke support in areas identified on the day and in feedback from colleagues.

  • I have already recommended this course to several colleagues and friends. This is without doubt one of the best sessions I have ever attended, where I knew straight away that I would keep what I was learning with me throughout my career.

  • The facilitators - Ailsa and Rachel - were brilliant. Very warm and encouraging, but also challenging. They created a great learning environment.

  • Best course I have been on! Real skills that I can put in to use. Hints and tips on how to structure info was great, breathing techniques are great and although I hate watching myself on screen, it was the best way to capture the learning.

  • The training led by Ailsa and Rachel has been priceless from start to finish. I was keen to enhance my presentation skills, particularly as English is not my native language and I am required to communicate and influence regularly. The preparatory work, the workshop day, the video recording, the exercises on pace and breathing as well as the individual coaching session created a highly impactful learning experience.

  • Thank you very much indeed for a really excellent workshop.  It gave me a new insight into presenting material and as well as techniques for getting the right information across.  It was possibly the most useful course I have attended, providing me with several life skills as well as greater self-awareness.

  • The course has been a revelation. It has given me real insight into how I communicate.
I have only scratched the surface of how I can use all the techniques that we discussed. I am already certain that they will become an essential part of my tool kit.

  • One-to-one session with Ailsa and Rachel was very, very good.

  • Both facilitators relaxed the group immediately; they were extremely informative, engaging, challenging, demanding and of enormous help to us all.

  • I have already recommended this course to several colleagues and friends. This is without doubt one of the best sessions I have ever attended, where I knew straight away that I would keep what I was learning with me throughout my career.

  • What was really important was the feel of the session - open, relaxed, fun and supportive. You often hear people say this is a 'safe environment' - Alisa and Rachel certainly made it feel like this which made the day so much more productive.
