Coaching Supervision

  • Supervision is the term for regular, confidential discussion of client work with another, more experienced practitioner. In the field of executive coaching, as in other helping professions, supervision is regarded as best practice.
  • Catherine Sandler has 20 years’ experience of individual and group supervision and has written a chapter on her approach in Coaching and Mentoring Supervision: Theory and Practice editors T. Bachkirova, P. Jackson & D. Clutterbuck (published in 2011 by Open University Press). However, please note that her availability for supervision is very limited.
  • Rachel Goodwin and Jani Rubery also offer supervision. They bring extensive experience in the field of coaching and leadership development and a warm and insightful approach.
  • Rachel has a particular interest in combining supervision of client work with supporting coaches keen to develop and grow their coaching practice.
  • All supervision provided by our practice aims to help the supervisee:
    • Deliver a consistently high quality of coaching and a high standard of professionalism
    • Receive support and advice when dealing with complex ethical or safeguarding situations
    • Recognise the limits of their competence and know when and how to refer their clients to other professionals
    • Develop their capacity to engage with and understand their clients
    • Understand and draw on different conceptual frameworks and improve their coaching skills and techniques
    • Deepen their self-awareness, gain more insight into their strengths and weaknesses and address any blind-spots that may be limiting the impact of their work

  • Catherine has a way of getting to the core of what is going on in a coaching relationship with a speed and precision which leave you breathless in its incisiveness.

    HR Manager and Internal Coach
  • As a supervisor, Catherine manages to be both challenging and highly supportive and encouraging. I always come away from these sessions with many valuable new insights into myself and my clients.

    Executive Coach
  • I am always in awe of Jani’s sharpness as my supervisor. She captures the essence of my issues and then inspires me to enrich my professional work further. I appreciate her straightforward yet personalized approach, which catalysed me into an established ICF Master Certified Coach. With Jani’s supervision, I am now looking forward to scaling greater heights.

    Coaching Supervisee
  • Rachel's supervision has been instrumental in the development of my coaching practice.  Over the past six years, she has helped me navigate a path out of my comfort zone and I am now working at a level way beyond my expectations.  Our sessions provide a valuable space for challenge, reflection and consolidation.
